Erica W. Gaines, MPH, BSHS, Executive Creative Director, Owner of Public Health 4 Kidz Production.
She has over 15 year experience in the healthcare field. Eight years of her tenure at a Fortune 500 medicaid insurance company was to develop and implement community outreach programs for her assigned service area that included 23 counties. The projects’ impact was to address social determinants of health and community awareness education for low income families with a focus on children and women who were pregnant or new to motherhood. The objective was to implement creative marketing strategies to participate in educational classes, health fairs, community events, and programs to raise compliance with the member’s healthcare with their physician. In this role, she has had much community recognition. In 2017, she was featured on the front page of the regional newspaper for her school initiative program to address anti-bullying for 8th grade students. The local news has also highlighted her work that brought fresh fruits, vegetables, and back to school supplies in low-income communities. In addition to media support, she has been recognized by her company as a spotlight employee and many community service awards.
Her passion for community health program implementation has been recognized by several servicing boards in non-profit, Department of Family and Children's Services, Department of Juvenile Judicial Services, faith-based organizations, food scarcity initiative, public health agencies, homeless organizations, sorority/fraternity, family collaboratives, hospitals, headstart programs, and school districts.
Some programs she assisted with was the development of a community resource guide with the partnership of Mercer University and Georgia Southern University. Also, she designed, implemented, and managed the statewide internship for the community health department at her company. This is her passion. She loves to mentor upcoming health professionals.
Secondly, she served for 8 years with children and families as a therapeutic intervention specialist and case manager. In these roles, she assessed family needs and implemented strategies to gain self-sufficient resources such as food, education, clothing, literacy awareness about medication and diagnosis.
Finally, she served in a therapeutic treatment facility for children 5-17. In this role she utilized creativity through the arts to provide therapeutic treatment and coping solutions.
